R720 Broadcom Teaming Smart Load Balancing and Failover vs Link Aggregation

I need one clarification on teaming with smart Load Balancing/ Failover and Link Aggregation,

If I create a team with two NIC, I believe both of the above terming techniques will use both NIC cards simultaneously.

For example a team with 2 NIC cards of 1gbps each, then the throughput will be 2gbps for both  Load Balancing/ Failover and Link Aggregation.

Avilt,

That is correct, they do use them both. Now with Load Balancing/Failover, all adapters in the team have separate MAC addresses. This type of team provides automatic fault detection and dynamic failover to other team members or to a hot standby member.

With Link Aggregation, it allows you to configure which adapters you want to participate in a given team. With this mode, all adapters in the team are configured to receive packets for the same MAC address.

If you follow this link, on page 9 there is additional information to help clarify the differences - http://bit.ly/1ocsJB6

This link will cover common issues with configuring the team, just for some additional information and help - http://www.dell.com/support/Article/us/en/19/600553/EN#issue1

Let me know if this helps.

So with respect to load balance/sharing there is no difference between LACP & Load Balancing/Failover ?

Means both technologies will effectively use multiple adapters for load balancing?

Also is there any built-in tool I can use to measure the utilization of NIC cards from the teaming perspective?
