Server listed as unclassified and unknown in OME
Hi there,
I am currently overlooking a few servers through the Dell OME system and have run into a bit of an issue.
There are 17 servers all in all but one server was never showing up on the Devices List, eventually after adding the iDrac to OME the server popped up under "unknown", but none of the servers inventory was listed, only one line about the iDRAC. I finally noticed SNMP wasn't active on the server and have recently activated it, however the server is still listed as unknown and under device type "unclassified". I read up that I need all of the DSM SAs to be activated however one of them doesnt want to start up: DSM SA Data management Error 1063 Terminated suddenly. Is this whats causing the server not to show up correctly?
It is a dell R620 running Windows 2012. OME version 1.1.0.6063
Thanks in advance

Good morning. For the iDRAC discovery issue, use WS-Man for the discovery range. The port should be 443. Secure Mode, Skip Common name check, and Trusted Site boxes should be checked.
As far as the DSM SA Data error goes, you may want to call support and open a case with our OpenManage group so they can dig deeper into your issue. They will probably need to do a Webex session with you to determine the cause.

Hi Geoff,
I discovered the iDRAC using WS MAN and it changed nothing. The iDRAC is showing up as the "server" in the discovery portal and the server is listed as an unknown unclassified device, with no inventory at all except for NIC. I installed System Admin on the server and when i open it, nothing shows up in the gui, as if I installed it on an empty machine. I also Re-inventoried my repository manager and this too reports the server as an unknown device with no inventory.

If the DSM SA Data Manager service is not running, then OMSA can't communicate with OME. If you discover the DRAC and it doesn't return much information, it could be your firmware is too old. What kind of DRAC is it? I suggest flashing the firmware with the latest version, and make sure SNMP is configured in the DRAC and in the discovery range in OME.
