T320 iDRAC7 Basic

Hello,

I have a PowerEdge T320 with iDRAC7 with Basic Management. If I want to upgrade to Express or Enterprise, do I need to install some new hardware or the server has all the hardware and it's all about licensing now?

Thank you.

Zillionnn,

Both actually. With the T320 all the dedicated hardware is embedded in the base, only the vFlash port and the RJ45 dedicated management port are optional. So you can activate the licensing and have full functionality of the iDrac7 Express or Enterprise, just without vflash and dedicated port, as it sits.

If you do chose to get the two option the part numbers are listed below.

vFlash part number - 342-3723

iDrac port card part number - 331-6956

Now the difference with this generation is that you have licensing that controls the Express and Enterprise, below are the part numbers for the different licenses.

iDRAC7 Express 30 day Trial - 421-6925

iDRAC7 Enterprise 30 day Trial - 421-5344

Express License - 421-6086

Enterprise License - 421-6087

Let me know if this helps.

1.  Yes it is the Enterprise that has the remote console.

2. I assume you are talking about Licensing and if that is the case, then yes.

Wow, thanks a lot for your thorough answer!

I don't need neither a vFlash nor a dedicated NIC :).

Two more questions :)

1. Which license has the virtual console that I can reboot and enter the BIOS, re-install the OS, etc.? That's what I need.

2. If it's the Enterprise, can I go straight for Enterprise, skipping the Express?
