Unable to Launch iDRAC After Updating Java to 7u51

Good Afternoon,

After getting three new PowerEdge R620s setup and initially connecting to iDRAC and successfully launching the console, I updated Java to 7u51 and am now unable to launch the console. This behavior is confirmed for both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

This was communicated to developers Sept 2013

Oracle has some more info on this.

https://blogs.oracle.com/java-platform-group/entry/new_security_requirements_for_rias

You could add the dracs to the Java exception site list

Exception Site List:

The Exception Site List feature allows end users to run Java applets and Java Web Start applications that do not meet the latest security requirements. Rich Internet Applications that are hosted on a site in the exception site list are allowed to run with the applicable security prompts.

Manual Exception Site List:

BT-SBG,

I would start with reinstalling Java on the server. Then access the drac and have the drac request and install Java. If the issue still persists the uninstall java and then run this update to update the drac - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r620?driverId=JGG1X&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3334005292&languageCode=en&categoryId=ES

1.5.0 was replaced a short time ago for stability causes.

Let me know how it goes.

Like Chris suggested below, I went and updated our iDRACs (I am on the older iDRACv6's, so v1.85b03 available at:  http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&docid=557292).

Unfortunately, I still have the same problem with JRE1.7.0_51-b13:

Error:  Missing required Permissions manifest attribute in main jar (avctKVM.jar)

Rolling back off of latest Java is a workaround but not helpful as a long term solution.

Hi Chris, is there an ETA as to when Dell will release a security-compatible iDRAC console JAR?

Hi Chris, i can now only access our IDRAC6 Enterprise cards by either rolling back to an older java Version or by installing a local VM with Windows XP and IE8 - seeing that these iDRACs are usually needed in a spiffy when alarm bells are ringing, such configuration orgies are the last thing an admin needs! As Microsoft further crippled their IE11 by limiting the compatibility settings one cannot even fall back to this browser.

Any ETA for a Java JRE 1.7.0_51 and IE11 compatible IDRAC firmware?

For iDRAC 7 an update was released several days ago (1.51.51 I believe) to address this. For iDRAC 6, an update is expected in March.

I had the same issue on version Java 7 Update 55 on a mac.  I changed the security settings in the Java Control Panel to "Medium".  This solved the problem for me.

In DRAC6 System->Console/Media->Configuration->Virtual Console select Native for Plug-in Type
