Dell PowerEdge R320 - System hardware check.

Goodday,

I'm wondering what tools are best to monitor the server components,  (iDRAC?)

- PSU's

- Harddisks (in raid)

- Ram

What software is used for that?

Thanks.

Hello Jordy,

First, glad to hear you made the switch to Dell, thanks!

Next, yes there are multiple tools to obtain system information. The x20 servers (which are 12th generation) contain a dedicated service processor embedded with "iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller 2" software.

1. Use the WSMAN command line interface to obtain this information (linux and windows). The hardware and software described below are structured into classes, per WSMAN industry standards.

2. iDRAC GUI

  • Login in using browser in the format https://iDRAC_IP_ADDRESS
  • On the left pane, there is a hardware dropdown which contains inventory

3. RACADM command line interface

  • Reference http://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_remote_ent_sys_mgmt/esuprt_rmte_ent_sys_rmte_access_cntrllr/integrated-dell-remote-access-cntrllr-7-v1.40.40_Reference%20Guide2_en-us.pdf

I am trying to keep it simple since there is so much information. Please let me know if you have questions.

steve

Hi Jordy,

You can use Server update utility(SUU), this can help to inventory your system components along with the updates on top of the Operating system.

By this utility you can Upgrade/Downgrade your system components firmware, drivers for BIOS, NIC, iDRAC, Lifecycle controller, Controller etc., along with the system inventory.

You can download this utility from the support site.

Thanks,
