Dell R930 Compatible CPUs

Can anyone confirm whether this CPU will be compatible with Dell R930? I understand the spec sheet says otherwise but just like it says V4 Cpus only, V3's are also allowed. So far i have noticed they both use the same socket LGA2011.

Hello

Intel Xeon E7-8893 v2 3.4GHz 37.5MB 8GT/s SR1GZ 6-Core CPU

No, that is not a validated CPU for the R930.

There are two E78893's that are validated, the V3, 3.2, E0 stepping and the V4, 3.2, B0 stepping.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, would you mind explaining what is E0 and B0 stepping?

You can search online for definitions. They are revisions. Most CPUs only have a single stepping version that is released, other steppings are typically development, but sometimes a CPU will have more than one stepping available. We do not always validate every stepping that is available.
