Android 5.0 Lollipop coming to the Venue 8 7840 Tablet.
It has been remarked on a few places in the forums that the Venue 8 7840 series doesn't ship with Lollipop. I have been informed that Lollipop is expected to be available via OTA for the 7840 sometime in February
I will post again once I have specific dates when the OTA will be available and any information on the availability of Lollipop for other models of Dell tablets.

Currently the Lollipop OTA is expected on April 21 and it will be version 5.01. I will post here if I receive any new information.

You have GOT to be kidding me. You delay this release into February, and then into March, and now ON THE DAY OF RELEASE in April you announce ANOTHER DELAY? Luckily, I'm still within the 30 day Best Buy return policy. Back this goes!

Is dell providing a new date when lollipop for this tablet will be released?
I'm also upset from this. First we waited months for the tablet, now we wait until a recent version of android comes for it.
Sorry for not writing perfect english, I'm from Germany.

this thread is only for the Dell Venue 8 7840, not sure what a "red" is.

He's referring to last year's 2014 version of the Venue 8 (I have a limited edition "red" model as well). It has the 3830 processor.

I have an unfortunate update regarding Lollipop and the Venue 8 7840. The Android update will not be available this month as I previously mentioned but it is expected in March. I know that a lot of you are looking forward to the new version of Android and I will post specific release dates as I have them.

Will the update be based off 5.0 or a newer version such as 5.1 or 5.0.2? As well can we get any updates as to when it's coming out? Looking forward to 64 bit support.

5.2 is likely to be released by Google then. Other manufacturers are waiting for the latest as well as 5.0 hasn't exactly been stable on wide variety of disjointed and disparate chipsets that Android vendors use (I also have a 1st Generation Moto X that has a delayed 5.x upgrade due to the processor not being fully supported by the standard ASOP Android release).
Next round, I'm sticking with Apple.

I currently don't have any other information other than the earliest that Lollipop will be available for download is in March. I am also looking for information on the what the exact version of Lollipop that will be made available. I will post here as soon as I receive any specific information.

Although I still don't have any definite dates, I have learned that it will be Android 5.01 that is being made available. I will continue to keep all of you up to date with the news on the Android update as soon as I receive any.
