Dell Venue 8 Pro Windows 10 Reset - INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
Keep getting INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error when trying to perform Windows 10 Reset (keeping existing files).
How do I resolve this?
Already tried deactivating drive encryption and disabling secure boot. Not sure what else to try.
Reason for Reset:
Observed the same inability to consistently snap apps to the side in tablet mode with my HP Envy X2 on Windows 10. Then after resetting Win10 on the Envy X2 the snapping works properly. I'm guessing there may be other little problems that reset may resolve.

I have run i to the same issue on my Dell Venue 8 Pro. I just remember a popup about Trusted platform which i said yes, then it rebooted and all broke from there.
I did just update to the latest firmare/bios, hopefully that isnt the cause.

I have the same issue, I did a reset to clear the accounts from the device and now its stuck in a boot loop. I was able to get it to boot from a windows 10 recovery USB, but it doesn't seem to load mouse, keyboard, or touchscreen drivers so I have no way to actually perform the recovery actions.
I've tried toggling secure boot and other BIOS settings, but no dice.

Also, keyboard, mouse, and touchscreen all work in the BIOS menu so it isn't a problem with the devices or USB port.

Exactly the same issue. I am assuming that it is to do with clearing the TPM in that in can no longer see the bitlocker encrypted drive. The message wasn't clear when it popped up and in my case, I hit the Vol Up key in error when I went to pick up the tablet to look at the message in more detail.

Well, add another one to the list. I was getting ready to sell my Venue 8 Pro which I had upgraded to Windows 10 a few weeks ago. I fired it up this morning to demo it to a potential buyer, and it worked flawlessly. So I told him I would run it through the Reset routine to wipe all my data and accounts, and I'd get back with him in an hour or so. It seemed to get most of the way through the Reset, but now is stuck in the infinite boot loop with the INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error.
For what it's worth, a few days ago I did the same thing with an ASUS Transformer Book T100 with no problems -- Reset completed fine and I was able to sell that unit. But not this one -- I had to tell the buyer I didn't have time to fix it and he's a co-op at our company with his last day being today :-(
So I guess I'll try to download the Win10 installation to a flash drive and see if I can make any progress this weekend recovering from this issue.

Add this one as well.
I am very disappointed with my dell venue pro 8.
I was waiting a long time for windows 10 to arrive so I could finally use it.
I never used it, it never worked properly.
It was a constant battle to get any meaningful use out of it from day one.
Now I also have INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE failure after Windows 10 upgrade.
COME ON DELL ,were fighting for your corner, we want it to work.
I am currently in the same position as hundreds of disappointed customers, going round in circles getting no answers.
Please let us continue to be dell customers, and post a solution.

I recently purchased a Dell Venue 8 Pro 3845 second hand, the seller did a reset before he went to ship it and ended up with the same error. " INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"
He sent me recovery media but it wouldn't boot from that. He also sent me a micro usb hub/adaptor.
it took me about 8 hours but I managed to fix it, I don't know if it will help you guys but ill post it here anyway.
If you haven't already activated Windows 10 and been signed into a Windows Live account on your tablet you wont be able to activated Window again. Un-activated copies of Windows 10 wont let you personalize your settings and will display a watermark logo saying your copy isn't activated but will otherwise be fully functional.
If you have signed into a Live account and activated Windows 10 it will sync and activate your Windows 10 ( this was my experience installing an SSD into my Laptop where the system image failed )
You need:
A Micro USB Hub ( Powered )
Keyboard/Mouse
Windows 10 Installation Media (USB) MUST BE 32BIT! or tablet wont recognized it!
Step 1: With the Tablet powered off press and hold the power button, then the Windows button.
- The Dell Logo will appear
Step 2: Release the power button first, followed by the Windows button.
Step 3: Press Volume Up for Boot Options & select the Windows 10 Installaion Media
Step 4: Install Windows 10, Skip entering your Product Key unless you know it.
Step 5: Once completed, Windows 10 would load however the touch screen didn't work, I fixed this by going to the dell website and installing the Intel Atom Z3000 CPU drivers for my tablet.
I don't if this will help you guys but i hope it does, i was so frustrated trying to get this to work and in the end i'm glad i did. The Dell Venue 8 i such a nifty little tab and Windows 10 offers an amazing experience.

Hi Toneboi I was wondering what kind of powered micro usb hub I am using one that lights up a mouse but won't light up a keyboard. The mouse still doesn't allow for any selection of anything.

I managed to fix my tablet using a recovery USB created from a colleague's tablet (same model). Using that recovery USB I had no issues with input, touch screen worked in the recovery wizard.

Can you please tell me if you got the Win 10 installation to work? I went through the process to create a recovery drive when i updated to Win 10, but there doesn't appear to be any image on the micro SD card, so i can't reset. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I tried your Windows button and Power button trick, but am still unable to escape the reboot loop that the Dell Venue 8 is in. I keep getting an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error.
I was super excited to try Windows 10, but am now disappointed. Hopefully, I am not stuck with a brick and Dell/MSFT can help.
