Drivers for Android Development

I'm trying to get my Samsung Galaxy S4 set up to debug Android apps (using Eclipse) but I can't find the right USB drivers. The Android development website (http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html) gives a link that is supposed to lead to the Dell OEM drivers to enable an attached device to be used in app debugging. But the link (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anavml) always redirects me to Dell Product Support.

I have a Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

I've tried to debug on my S4 without the driver installed, but Eclipse can't recognize it and doesn't show it as being online (shown in the included screenshot). Eclipse does recognize the Nexus 4 AVD I created, but not my S4. I have enabled Developer options and have USB debugging checked in my phone's settings.

If I could get any help finding the appropriate driver(s) or a working alternative, I'd be very thankful.

Your mistaken adb / fastboot drivers are device specific not PC specific what model phone I'll get you the drivers and link.

Try this http://www.koushikdutta.com/post/universal-adb-driver

Samsung official driver http://developer.samsung.com/android/tools-sdks/Samsung-Andorid-USB-Driver-for-Windows

Why is this not more heavily advertised???

That fixed my problem, it seems to work now. At first, it didn't make a difference, but I went into Developer options in the Settings menu and unchecked/rechecked the USB Debugging box. Then my phone gave me the option of allowing my PC to run apps on it. And it all worked from there.

Thanks for the help!

Here I built this set of adb and fastboot drivers its for the venue 7 and venue 8 you'll have to install them manually through windows device manager.

hope it helps. . .

I'm sorry I thought you had a dell tablet your probably better off in a Samsung forum the drivers I linked are for the Dell Venue 7 / 8 not the Samsung. You need Samsung drivers not Dell sorry I read your post wrong. Best of luck.

So I went to the device manager, found "SAMSUNG Android Phone," expanded it and right-clicked on "SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface," and selected "Update Driver Software."

Then I selected "Browse my computer for driver software" and selected the extracted folder. When I clicked Next, it told me "The best driver software for your device is already installed."

When clearly it is not. It's like it won't let me update it manually.

I have a Samsung phone, but I need a driver for my Dell PC. The driver should work for all manufacturers of Android devices, but needs to be specific to Dell computers. But the Dell website apparently changed where to find it.
