How is Ubuntu 18.04 on a tablet? (Dell Venue 11 pro 7140)

I've been running Ubuntu 16.04 on a Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140 for a couple of years. The system runs very reliably, but application support for the touch screen is poor, and audio through the headphone jacks is unusable (but fine through the speakers).

I'm considering switching to Ubuntu 18.04. I'd like to know:

(1) Does 18.04 install and run reliably on the 7140 - touch-screen, wifi, audio etc?

(2) How well do applications support the touch screen, especially Firefox, Thunderbird, Evolution, and VLC?
