No Spell Check in Froyo

I ordered an unlocked Streak with 2.2 a received it last week.

About five minutes into trying the phone I noticed there is no spell check (emails, texting, notepad).  All the demos I have watched and the user guide clearly show when typing, misspelled words are underlined and spelling suggestions are displayed.  Mine doesn’t do that.  5 Days I have been trying to figure out why there is no spell check!!

Can anyone help?
