Either in the BIOS under security or in Windows, search for "tpm.msc" If TPM Manufacturer Information shows INTC, then BitLocker is using PTT instead of the TPM for key management, as it should.
Provided that there is an understanding of what a TPM is and does, the Venue 11 Pro 5130 actually has 2 TPMs; the discrete TPM chip which shows manufactured by Atmel in TPM.MSC and Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT) which is a firmware-based TPM that shows manufactured by INTC in TPM.MSC.
BitLocker doesn't work so well with the discrete TPM chip on the Venue 11 Pro 5130 so it's best to use Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT) which it sounds like yours is. As long as the TPM is off and BitLocker is using PTT, I wouldn't suspect this or BitLocker as the issue. In fact, connected Standby will only function if PTT is enabled and TPM is off in the BIOS.
If you continue to have issues, the two best steps would be to install all Windows updates to include the Windows 8.1 spring update which has numerous fixes and enhancements for tablets and all current Dell Drivers available from the Dell Support Site.
ü Intel Z3700 series chipset Driver 603.9600.2067.27988, A06
ü Intel Trusted Execution Engine Version 188.8.131.524, A00
ü BIOS Version A07 (A08 will be released in a few weeks, check back and update later)
ü Panel Touch Firmware 184.108.40.206, A01
Should you continue to have issues after that and software may be ruled out, it could be best to engage the Dell Technical Support team for additional assistance.
I already have the latest driver for everything - as a point of note, the panel touch firmware you've listed is not the latest, the latest is A02 (and is a vast improvement over A01), but for some reason it's only posted on the 7130 drivers page, not the 5130.
Any sneak peak as to what the A08 BIOS will fix? The 7130 model had fixes in the A12 BIOS & the LCD firmware that fixed problems with waking from sleep & double taps on the onscreen keyboard. Will the A08 BIOS for the 5130 fix similar things?
The Venue 11 Pro comes in four flavors;
BIOS A08 will be for the 5130 and unfortunately, I don’t have the list of Fixes & Enhancements. This info will be noted on the download page once it is posted.
Just got a Venue Pro 11 5130 with the mobile travel Keyboard and having all the same issue as others have reported in this forum with the main issue being when resuming from sleep pressing the power button or the touch Windows key on the tablet it vibrates to say it's woken but I get a blank screen and have to do a forced shutdown.
I have installed all drivers for the 5130 version from Dell AND the new A08 bios (only a few days old) which I flashed this morning and even reset the bios settings to default in case something was wonky in the settings.
Aside from this, one interesting thing I have noticed which I have never seen on another Windows 8 tablet is when running powercfg /sleepstudy to try and see what's happened during the last connected standby session I get "No connected standby traces available. Report not generated" which gives 0 results in Google which seems very strange?
Btw I also have an Asus T100 that I went through similar issues with in terms of connected standby where that would drain 5% an hour but I managed to diagnose and get that fixed so hoping this Veniue Pro 11 isn't a lost cause as I really like it.
I had this exact issue on my 5130, and it *seems* to have been fixed by applying the latest touch firmware update from the 7130. I used to get the dreaded 'black screen on wake from sleep' once or twice a week. Since applying the update on the weekend, it's not happened. Possibly a bit early to say for sure, but it looks promising. The update also improved my touchscreen accuracy, so I'd apply it either way.
Thanks - I noticed that newer touch driver in another post and tried that earlier but it made no difference so I have reached the stage where I either do a factory reset and test for sleep issues before updates etc, install standard Windows 8.1 Pro and test or just give up and return this so I can actually do some work and be productive!!!!
Doing a factory reset was the ONLY thing that fixed my T100 previously so I'm thinking this might be the best way forward however I can't seem to get the Venue Pro 11 to boot from a bootable USB drive to try one last thing now emoticon.Angry.title
Tried a few more things but couldn't get any improvement so now trying a factory reset to see if sleep issues are there straight away or after a certain driver etc emoticon.Indifferent.title
Ok an update for anyone that's interested...
At this point I would guess that installing the latest Dell drivers inc touchscreen etc now probably wouldn't cause any issues as when I did the exact same procedure with my Asus T100 i.e. installing driver updates that seemed to cause issues BEFORE a full factory reset but now afterwards on a clean Windows 8 install the T100 has been trouble free ever since.
With all this mind does anyone think there is any chance that flashing new bios / firmware files on Windows 8 tablets with connected standby doesn't actually ever make the same changes / fixes as when done on or before a new install?
My best guess is that something gets stuck / not updated and will never fix itself until Windows is factory reset which if others having similar issues on their Venue Pros can try themselves then maybe we might be closed to be able to providing a fix for everyone?
