Reinitializing the Unity Operating Environment to a Lower Software Version

Jump to solution

Hi,

I have a big problem that VEEAM backup and replication haven't got the StorageSnapshots to work with the latest version of Unity Operating Environment 4.5.

I NEED to downgrade Reinitializing the Unity Operating Environment to a Lower Software Version 4.3 or 4.4

There is no Data on the Array so it can be Reinitialized at any time.

Is there anybody that knw how to attach/deploy/downgrade to a lower version ?

I  know how to Reinitialize but Not to a lower version.

This is offcause only tempoary to VEEAM releases the suppported upgrade, then i will of cause upgrade the EMC to the latest Software once again.

Thanks

One last note here to clarify:

Unity downrevv (installing older code than the current one) is possible but it is not recommended as this is completely destructive. It's a complete factory reset, all config and data are gone.

So this is only an option if you have a full plan to implement such a drastic operation.

In the case of the user that initiated this thread (Prod-IP2), this was perfectly clear and aplan existed. All data was moved from one Unity to the DR Unity, we did a downrev (complete reset). Then this Unity system was fully configured, replicated/migrated data back, and then we repeated everything for the DR Unity.

Please understand that Dell EMC Technical Support will not be able to assist with any part of the reconfiguration or data migrations, all we can assist with is the Unity reinit/downrevv itself. Everything else is the user's responsibility. And before we do this, a written statement from the user/customer will be required to acknowledge all of this.

yes - a destructive re-image to a lower OE version is possible.

Its not a customer operation - so please ask EMC support or your service provider to do it for you
