Unity AF drives into Unity XT

One of my customers ordered 3.84 TB drives with a 350F, can be swappable with the drives for the Unity XT 380 F?

Hello Samcrx,

Dell EMC Unity & Unity XT storage systems use their own unique drive part numbers and ordering models. Moving or using Unity DAE’s and drives in Unity XT arrays is not supported at this time.

Hi, would like to know whether this policy still stands or whether there's a new transition path in place

Kind regards,

Hello David,

This is still the case that you can’t mix unity & unity XT drives.

Hi Sam,

What if customer accidentally got the wrong order? Let's say, they have unity 300, but the got the wrong drive (unity xt 380)

Thank you

Hello haferush02,

If the drives were ordered from DellEMC and service tag/ serial# was provided, & you received the wrong drives, then in most cases we can exchange them for the correct drives.

Hello tomers_007,

You can move disks from one unity system to another. It is best if the drives have no data on them.

Hello tomers_007,

Did one of your unity systems fail and you are needing to move the disks? It is best if both unity are running the same onefs version. If you have data on the drives then I would recommend you open a support case so that we can look into your case deeper to ensure there will be no data loss.
