Quick VMAX Question

We want to revamp the way our AS/400 was originally setup.  We are currently using 35 gig volume and we only have one Disk Group defined.  My question is since all of the volume in the Disk group are 35 gig, to create a new/2nd disk group with larger drives we have to have a bin update?  Doesn't seem like I can do this myself.  IE. create a new/2nd disk group with larger drives.

Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated,

Garrett

Hi Gshaw,

How you doing?

I agree wit Fenglin New disk groups will requiere a bin file change, by an EMC CE. You probably know about it but, in case you don't you can use this symcli command a a combination of it to take some disk group information. I hope it helps

symdisk -sid xxxx list -disk_group xx or symdisk -sid xxxx list -disk_group xx -v

Regards

Yes, New diskgroup requires BIN changes. It depends on your Array has new disk installed. If you still have free space in your current disk group . You're able to create new larger devices by yourself through symcli.
