Replication between EMC VMAX and IBM SVC

Hi guys,

I am new to EMC products and that is why I am raising a basic question. Please help

I need to know about any replication technology which supports heterogeneous asyn replication.

I have IBM SVC (virtualizing Clariion and DMX) in one DC and EMC VMAX3 in other DC and I am looking for setting up a replication between these two arrays.

My question is

1) is there any common replication technology to replicate between these two arrays?

2) or is it mandatory that we need to have IBM SVC in both data center to make replication happen?

Please note that 90% of the workload in DC-1 is coming from IBM SVC.

Please suggest the best solution for this.

Thanks,

Shishir

IBM SVC has its integrated replication feature and it support replication with SVC/Storewize storage only. You can check if RecoverPoint supports such configuration as it do replication across heterogeneous storage arrays.

Hope you have a replication link setup already and have enough bandwidth.

If you have another SVC at the remote DC  it must be easier as it will not have much compatibility issues or known bugs.

Else you will have to validate the compatibility of the existing code levels in SVC and VMAX and arrive at a conclusion.

So far i haven't come across a heterogenous async replication.
