Same devices on two storage groups.

We have a cluster ---cluster 1 which is having 10 devices ---legacy cluster.(two node)---Vmax

We are planning for new two node cluster. apart from adding 10 new devices we need the legacy 10 devices to be masked to the new cluster

Is that possible with FAST VP policy and without cascading??

Thanks

You can add devices that are already in an existing Storage Group and Masking View to a separate Storage Group that is in a separate Masking View. But a device can only belong to one Storage Group that is associated with a FAST VP policy. So the Storage Group used by the new cluster could not have FAST VP associated with it.

how have you implemented fast vp on these clustered volumes? Do you have a separate SG for FAST VP? Are you moving the devices from a legacy cluster to the newer cluster?

In my case, we have a separate SG for fast vp and we put the devices to it and another SG that is part of MV. We are yet to test the cascaded SGs.

As Saurabh, already mentione if you maintain seperate storage group for FAST VP and seprate for masking everything should work as a device can belong to multiple storage groups, but multiple policies cannot be added to same storage group.

Maintaining two seperate SGs is one of the best practices for fast vp support.

Hi Saurabh,

Thanks,  to answer your question

Yes we are moving from legacy cluster to new cluster. Thanks in advance
