VMAX new luns ,not able to format - solaries 11
We have assigned new LUNS from VMAX to Solaris control domain.
Storage :
VMAX 20K
Server
SunOS meyldmlpsrv03 5.11 11.2 sun4v sparc sun4v
power path : Version 6.0 P 01 (build 3)
Unix team getting the below error when they try to format luns,
format> l
Ready to label disk, continue? y
Warning: error setting drive geometry.
Warning: error writing VTOC.
Label failed.
format>
I checked all most all the blogs on the site, not able come across anything concrete,
looking forward for your help guys,

Can you give us a little more information on the VMAX side? Presumably, these are TDEVs, yes?
Is the UNIX team attempting to format the PowerPath device or the raw device?

Hello Karl,
yes these are TDEV's , unix team formatting the powerpath devices.
we also had case opened with EMC, they have given upgrade ..PP

It seems you have a case open with EMC. If you're able to upgrade PP to 6.0 P2 or later, can you do so? Without more detail, it's difficult to know what has or hasn't worked in the past.
