mail alerts stopped after 8.1 upgrade

I am having an issue after upgrading to Unisphere fo rVMAX 8.1.0.3.  All of my email alerts have stopped.  What I can find is that "-" is no longer allowed in the recipient email address field.  Support wants an enhancement request to fix this issue that worked before upgrading.  Anyone else seeing this issue and have a posible work around other than getting my DL changed?
