Does replication manager utilize VADP when creating copies of datastores?

All

Does replication manager utilize VADP when creating copies of datastores, or is VADP capable of integrating with Snapview / VNX snaps in any way?

LarsB,

I am nearly certain the answer is 'no'.  Replication Manager (and the replication technologies it managers) operate at a lower level than vSphere.  They interface the underlying infrastructure hardware.  They work whether or not vSphere is present.

Incidentally, RM's supported replication technologies have features to minimize data traffic, only sending newly written data to the remote store.  As a result, VADP's change block tracking is not needed.  And because RM uses OS and application tools, it can provide application consistent replicas in more situations that vSphere snaps.
