Help - creating new LUN but private LUN's exist?!

Hi all,

On our CX300 SAN we are looking to redeploy one of our existing RAID Groups (Which consists of 4 x 1TB ATA disks) for another purpose (2 x VMware LUN’s)… when we go to create a new LUN it states that only 2048GB is available in the free contiguous space column which we found odd…

Investigating it further we discovered there are about 15 Private LUN’s each 20GB in size which start at the 2048GB boundary…

I can see these in the Reserved Lun Pool. All are marked as Free... I believe they may have been setup for SnapView or something... (Which we are not using)... question is am I OK to remove these from the Reserved Lun Pool and then destroy them and take all the space available for my VMware LUN's?

Hi,

I am pretty sure this is not odd, it is based on the fact that as far as I remember you can NOT build lun's bigger than 2 TB on a CX300.

Thanks

if they are not in use by reserved pool, yes you can remove them and destroy them.
