VMDirectPath with Vsphere 5.0 and Cisco M81KR error
Has anyone setup directpath using an RTM or beta release of Vsphere 5.0, and specifically on a UCS blade with a Palo adapter? I can get this to work with a 4.1 ESXi install and the same model blade/CNA but attempts using 5.0 (RTM 441353) throw the following error in vmkernel.log
WARNING: PCI: 3557: 000:012:00.0: Cannot change ownership to PASSTHRU (non-ACS capable switch in hierarchy)
I've verified BIOS and policy settings are correct for VT-d and have isolated a single VNIC only to one of the two CNA's.

Happened to me too. found this KB article.
VMware KB: PCI Passthrough with PCIe devices behind a non-ACS switch in vSphere http://bit.ly/oiUAnv
Apparently, there is some new change to SRIOV by intel. The KB article references an Intel paper. Looking into a fix.

I have also faced this issue.
I am able to configure passthrough in ESXi4.1 U1 and U2 , however with ESXi5.0 I see same warning messages in vmkwarning.log.

The M81KR won't be supported for VMDirectPath passthrough, but is supported for DirectPath 2.0. I know, it's weird. Here's a link to my blog entry that helps to clarify somewhat. The blog entry has links to docs that help explain what to do next.

Hope this helps,
