Any experience monitoring VNXe using NetIQ out there?

All

I am trying to figure out how to utilize NetIQ to monitor VNXe 1600 and 3150.

Does anybody have any tips how to make this work?

Any help appreciated

You could monitor these devices with NetIQ AppManager and the Hardware Module using SMI-S provider and if SNMP is enabled on the devices then you could also use the NetIQ AppManager SNMP Toolkit.

NetIQ Documentation: AppManager for Hardware Management Guide - AppManager for Hardware Management Guide - July 14 2013

NetIQ Documentation: NetIQ AppManager SNMP Toolkit Management Guide - NetIQ AppManager SNMP Toolkit Management Guide

Please let me know if this answers your questions.

In terms of SMI-S where is what the VNXe1600 supports:

  • native support for block SMI-S v1.6 as defined by SNIA with no reliance on Solutions Enabler
  • Microsoft Windows 8 SMAPI and Microsoft SMI-S

VNXe SMI-S programmers guide for the 1600/3200 is available from support.emc.com

The 3150 is a different code base - I believe it only supports the Microsoft SMI-S for file

SNMP traps for alerting are supported - no polling (snmp get) or active Management (snmp set)
