I have a doubt, somebody has told me about a blade switch for VNX, instead of using a FC switch for the SAN. I´d like to know what is this exactly. Is refer to use the VNX as a FC switch
Thanks in advance
there is no built-in fiber channel switch in VNX
negative, never heard of blade switch for VNX. It doesn't exist.
Only Symmetrix VMAX has a built-in switch, maybe you can confirm it again with your friend.
VMAX has built-in fiber channel switch that is used for host connectivity ? News to me and i got 5 of them sitting on the floor.
Not for host connectivity, just for itself.
what is that component actually called ? I know it's not called fiber channel switch that's for sure.
They are two 16-port RapidIO switches called the Matrix Interface Boards.
those are director boards, i have never heard called fiber channel switches.
No Dynamox, he is not referring to directors but the MIBE which are used to connect directors (connection from SIB of each director ) each other. Of course as you mentioned, there is no switch which can be used for host connectivity.
