Can we use FAST Cache Spare for Data SSD Drives and vice versa

Hi All,

In VNX2 Models, can we FAST Cache Spare for Data Flash Spare. In my way we can't use why because FAST Cache drives are SLC drives and Data SSD drives were MLC & eMLC drives. can somebody through a light on this..

Thansk in advance

If you're only using 4, keep them together on DAE 0 on one of the busses.

3 simple recommendations;

For VNX Series arrays with MCx (Release 33), the best practices for drive placement, are:

  • Spread the drives as evenly as possible across the available backend busses.
  • Add no more than 8 FAST Cache flash drives per bus, including any unused flash drives for use as hot-spares.
  • Use DAE 0 on each bus when possible for flash drives, as this has the lowest latency

Hope that helps.

No, you must have a spare(s) for each EFD type. They are not interchangeable.
