EMC SANCopy/F from HP-XP2400 Storage Array to VNX5400 Unified

Good afternoon gents,

Today, I am having trouble with creating successful EMC SANCopy/F sessions from HP-XP24000 to VNX5400 Unified.

I am open to any suggestions.

I have....

  • Zoned HP-XP24k initiators to VNX initiators
    • 4 zones
      • Brocade Fabric A
        • ppvnx01_spa_p1_xp24k__7b
        • ppvnx01_spb_p2_xp24k__7b
      • Brocade Fabric B
        • ppvnx01_spb_p1_xp24k__8b
        • ppvnx01_spa_p2_xp24k_8b
  • Zoned VNX as a host to HP-XP24k
    • Added additional initiators to production MS Cluster arrays to HP-XP-24K FA groups (7B, 7A)
  • Trespassed my LUNs to test to see if there is a connection
    • SanCopy/F sessions could not see either SPA or SPB paths
  • Executed command: xpinfo on HP24K array
    • Output:
  • Drive : \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE1Q:                     Model : XP12000

  • Port : CL7B                                  Serial # : 00045516

  • Host Target : 0                                     Code Rev : 5001

  • Array LUN : 00                                   Subsystem : 0004

  • CU:LDev : 00:ed                                 CT Group : ---

  • Type : OPEN-V                               CA Volume : SMPL

  • Size : 1019 MB                             BC0 (MU#0) : SMPL

  • ALPA : da                                  BC1 (MU#1) : SMPL

  • Loop Id : 07                                  BC2 (MU#2) : SMPL

  • SCSI Id : ---

  • RAID Level : RAID5                               RAID Type  : ---

  • RAID Group : 1-1                                   ACP Pair : 1

  • Disk Mechs : R0000   R0100   R0200   R0300

  • FC-LUN : 0000b1cc000000ed                      Port WWN : 50060e8005b1cc61

on the HP array, did you see VNX SPs login as initiators and then you "masked" them to the LUNs that need to be copied to VNX ?

Thanks dynamox for your reply,

It turns out that it is a host issue.  If your host cluster is in locked state, not another host nor storage array can communicate to the cluster.  I will need to have it offline and cluster service unlocked during window outage.  We tested a test lun that is not part of the FA adapter associated with the MS Cluster and the session was able to be established.

good insight for other HP-XP2400 users, thank you for sharing.

Don't forget to mark this question as "answered" if indeed that is the case.
