Moving a DAE from one array to another

Is it possible to move a DAE from one VNX array to another if it is not being used. (VNX 5500 in this example)

EG. From DR site to Production.

How does this affect maintenance and what happens if the DAE number is already being used on the array you are moving it too? I know there is a procedure for moving DAE from one bus to another and back again which I presume you use in this case to overcome this issue or just add to a different bus at DR I guess.

Thoughts anyone?

You can move the dae but make sure there are no luns or raid groups. Unhook the cables and move to the other array. Use USM (Unisphere Service Manager) to attach to the new array

Yes it will take care of the numbering ... Have your CE or ASR move the serial numbers to the other array .

Parks,

Does USM handle the renumbering if already used and what about the maintenance implications?

Cheers

Thanks for your answers.

Turns out now that the customer wants to keep the data on the disks so there is no way they can move the DAEs anyway unless they back it up, delete, move and restore which I don't think is an option.
