Soft Quota warning pop-up not work
Hi,
We have a VNX5300 Unified and want to configure quota policies.
I think we have quotas configured as we had planned, except soft quota warning pop-up enabled.
Despite being activated "Enable both warning and error messages pop-up" with option 3, when the Soft Quota is exceeded no warning pop-up is received.
The CIFS service was restarted but the behaviour did not changed.
The guide we followed "Using Quotas on VNX, Release 8.1" refers "You must enable Windows Messenger Service for Windows clients to receive pop-up messages" but this service no longer exists in current operating systems.
At this moment we are getting the pop-up error when hard quota is exceeded, but not getting any pop-up when soft quota is exceeded.
Anyone know if there is any new manual release or some workaround to address this issue ?
Thanks
Rui

AFAIK there is no replacement for the Messenger service functionality in newer Windows OS.
If you require end-user quota notifications you could either script yourself something that uses Email
or use a 3rd party commercial quota management tool like from NTP or Northern Storage – these are licensed per user though.
