Unable to Join CIFS server to Windows DC 2008

Hello,

i've created new CIFS server and set up NTP and DNS on DM.

I can ping DNS by name or by IP, clock on DM is sync with NTP service on domain, but when try to join CIFS to domain i recieved this error:

DomainJoin::connect:: Unable to connect to the LDAP service on Domain Controller xxxxxxx.mydomain.com' (@172.17.xx.xx) for compname 'cifsd'. Result code is 'Sasl protocol violation'. Error message is Sasl protocol violation.

Domain is on Windows 2008 Standart

See knowledgebase articles emc74207 emc75465 emc77960 emc152466 emc274865

Most likely your account doesn’t have the necessary AD rights to perform the join

Might be a Kerberos or DNS or password problem as well – not enough to tell from one line of error messages

I suggest you open a service request and ask support to enable CIFS debug logging – then it should become clearer

You can execute a CLI comando server_log server_2 for more detail about the erro. Do this command after you try put the cifs server on domain.
