VNX 5400 Per TB licensing

Hi Folks,

Getting a bit confused on PERTB licensing for the EMC. Is this required on VNX5400? If I do not purchase it will disks not work upon insertion? Will support not help me if I call in?

Thanks in Advance!

everytime you purchase more capacity for VNX, you pay for capacity license. System will not stop you from using extra capacity but you might get in trouble when it's time to purchase more storage/renew support contract. Get in touch with your local EMC account/reseller on the pricing/capacity information.

Hey,

yeah, you must buy Capacitylicenses.

For SSD/SAS = VNX OE Performance Tier per TB

For NL-SAS = VNX OE Capacity Tier per TB

Licensing is based on raw capacity

If you are buying a new unit, there is no way to avoid paying those costs.  If you are upgrading an existing unit under EMC maintenance, there is no legitimate way to avoid paying those costs.

But to the best of my knowledge there is no physical representation for that license, like a key, or enabler; it is simply a (required) line-item on the quotes.
