VNX NAS Backup

Hello,

We are looking at VNX2 for NAS.  One of our major questions is how to do backups from

VNX NAS.  Our environment uses Commvault 10 as the backup software with Isilon as the

backup target.  The NAS will support CIFS and NFS shares.  The daily change rate is

between 5TB and 10TB.

Looking at the documentation, it appears as if the best method would be to use three

way NDMP.

Any thoughts?  Does anyone have any experiences to relate?  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Will S.

i did 3-way NDMP with IBM TSM, works fine. How many network interfaces do you have on your datamovers ? We used to have a dedicated 1G interfaces just for NDMP traffic.

what's your plan for all these interfaces ? 10g port-channel for user traffic and 1g interfaces for "utility/backup" ?

Yep, 10Gb/s is for user traffic.

We are looking at four (4) 1Gb/s and 2 10Gb/s per data mover.  We are planning for

2 active datamovers with a third for N+1.
