VNX VSA first boot question
I download and imported the VNX. I added a hard drive and booted.
I was hoping for some startup wizard so i could assign a IP address.
Instead the first time it boots it sits at /bin/rm: cannot remove /nas/quota/slot_2/.etc/dp/dic/bb000c29b6901b000: no such file or directy.
If I reboot it and let it boot again, it takes me to the logon prompt.
But there is no IPs set for the DM or the Unisphere interface.
I've tried this twice with the same outcome.
If there is no wizard and someone tell me how to set an IP for the DM and unisphere?
I did create an interface and gave it an IP, I can ping it but cannot pull up unisphere. The strange thing is it can't ping outside its subnet.
I used
$ server_ifconfig -create -Device -name
-protocol IP
to create cge0
thanks,jb

Instead of just listing the latest (v8.1) I provided a search URL that also returns some of the older file simulators in case you need them also (as far back as v5.6).
https://support.emc.com/search/?resource=ST&AlloftheseWrds=file%20simulator&AnyoftheseWrds=vnx%20celerra&SearchWithin=true&adv=y
As for the documentation, here are the relevant Installation and Configuration Guides:

Sorry, I'm not certain I understand the question. It is fundamentally an OS (DART/VNX OE for File) running in a Virtual Machine booting from a virtual disk with one or more network adapter. Internally it then binds everything to logical constructs such as vNICs to data mover interface(s) and emulates the captive block array (can NOT directly access block features) to ultimately provide the storage pools for file that you otherwise with a physical (Unified) Array provision manually. At this point, from a feature perspective, you have a platform to test (almost) all of the file (but not block) features offered by a physical array.
I've basically just defined a virtual appliance which are becoming popular. While the VNX/Celerra (file) Simulators and Isilon's Virtual Clusters are provided for test/dev only and aren't meant for production environments, there are exceptions such as our RecoverPoint Virtual Appliance.
