VNX e3150 question

Hi,

I'd like to know more about the optional Flex Modules.

One option is the 4 port 1G BaseT, the other is 2-port 10G BaseT.

I guess the 1G BaseT modules use standard Cat6.

1) What cables are required for the 10 G BaseT modules?

2) From experience anyone have an opinion on this as a NAS box?

Thanks.

Hi,

1. VNXe3150 supports two I/O personality modules:

a.) Four-port 1-Gb/s copper Ethernet I/O personality module

b.) Two-port 10-Gb/s copper Ethernet I/O personality module

So, you can use copper Ethernet (RJ-45) to connect is OK.

I guess you may confused VNXe3150 and VNXe 3300. VNXe 3300 supports:

Two-port 10-Gb/s optical iSCSI I/O module

Two-port 10-Gb/s Ethernet RJ-45 Base-T I/O module

So, when use Two-port 10-Gb/s optical iSCSI I/O module, we need to use optical cable.

But VNXe3150 support copper Ethernet I/O personality module, so just use copper Ethernet (RJ-45) to connect is OK.

About the question2,

I don't have real experience about useing VNXe instead of Celerra.

But, as I know VNXe can also provide many features as blow, so I think can make VNXe as a NAS box.

The VNXe series delivers significant advancements in efficiency, simplicity, and affordability. Major benefits of VNXe series storage systems include:

Support for file (CIFS and NFS) and block (iSCSI) storage

Snapshots and replication (local and remote)

Application-focused provisioning, and built-in best practices

VMware and Hyper-V server integration

A new Unisphere interface for simplified management
