Windows 2003 hosts simultaneously connected to CX3 and VNX5200

Hi All,

I have a few win2k3 and win12k hosts currently attached to CX3. I need to present storage from VNX5200 to them in order to migrate data using SANCopy. The host based software is pretty outdated: PowerPath is 4.5 and 4.6, Naviagent - I do not even know yet which version it is. My questions are:

1). Can I simply present the VNX LUNs without updating the host based software, or I absolutely need to update the PP and NaviAgent to the latest supported version in order to present VNX storage?

2). If I can present VNX LUNs to the win2k3 without updating the host based software, will I need to reboot the hosts - it is win2k3 and win12k - I just do not remember if a drive rescan will be sufficient?

you must upgrade PP to the supported level, see attachment

Thanks dynamox. Does PP upgrade require a reboot? Is it a step up upgrade, or I can go directly from 4.5-4.6 to 5.3 or 5.5?

PP does require reboot, i don't remember if you have to do any step upgrades ..best to look at PowerPath release notes/Admin guide.

OK. How about Naviagent? Any version should work? I assume if it is a really old one, VNX will complain about the HAVT issues or host unmanaged?
