front end port on new VNX

Hi

on the VNX5300 there were 4 onboard FE port which only 2 was usable for host connection because 2 were taken for DM fiber connection if the array was Unified or file only, can anyone answer if i same goes for VNX5200 and VNX5400?

i see that the four port are not onboard but an I/O card that comes with the storage processor as standard.

Hi,

the ports on the SP for the NAS data movers aren’t reserved any longer.

If you buy a block-only model and you’re sure you don’t want to upgrade to Unified then you can use all ports.

Obviously if you buy a file or unified model then these ports are used by the data mover(s)
