vCenter 5.1 server registered on VNXe does not show ESXi 5.1 hosts

Upgraded my Environment to vCenter 5.1 and ESXi 5.1

Since the upgrade, I can see my vCenter being registerred on my VNXe, but not the hosts that are managed by this vCenter and connected to the VNXe

Is this a known issue, or a bug, or does VNXe simply not support vSphere 5.1 yet?

The cause is due to UUID of ESX host got changed after upgrade from vSphere.

Please refer to Primus emc309039 at support.emc.com for resolution.

Did you upgrade to ESXi 5.1 or do clean install?

Saw similar thing happening when I upgraded from 4 to 5 and I'm working on a blog post about it. Basically VNXe doesn't show the hosts under vCenter if those hosts are already registered. The behaviour is different depending if it's clean install with different name, upgrade or clean install with same name. After the upgrade VNXe is not the fastest to register these changes either.

Hmmmm

This fixed adding my hosts:

(IP entry was previous vCenter entry withou thost)

But when I look at datastore now, I see double entries for my hosts ....

Lets see if I can fix thi swithout loosing access to my LUNs ...

Hmmm, after upgrade vCenter server was still there, but without the hosts

Tried to use the Details button to re add the credentials (which fails by the way, because when you hit details, your hostname is specified in the Management Addres field, and it only seems to take IPv4 or IPv6 addresses) without success

Then decided to completely re add the vCenter server, and then it sees both th vCenter Server and the ESX hosts

Thanks Henri for asking the correct question ;-)

I did the vCenter upgrade first and then hosts one by one.

Yes you are going to lose connection, no matter how you do it

I have the same problem: did a clean install of vCenter 5.1, now adding hosts to this vcenter but I also get doubles in VNXe unisphere ...
Is there a solution to this problem ?
