VPLEX as mediator, snapshots on XIO

Hi!

Can someone please explain, is feature " Restore from read-only snapshot" supported (usable) when VPLEX is mediator between host and XtremIO storage? We have production systems with luns on XtremIO but VPLEX as mediator. If we create read-only snapshots directly on XIO (eg before update, upgrade or similar task) will it be possible to restore from this snapshot ( in case that update or upgrade fails)?  

What about data corruption (as we are doing some actions on backend storage, not on VPLEX itself), and OS is not aware of XIO storage, only VPLEX - INVISTA luns? If this method is not supported, then what could be the alternative solution instead snapshots?
