maping luns from eva-8100

hello.

i am trying to connect luns from ab hp eva-8100.

i zoned and mapped the vplex and eva and both sides see each other.

in the eva host maping, i set the vplex operating system as "windows"

i presented a lun.

the vplex sees it, but, when i try to claim the lun, i receive an error that the name table is invalid.

i have tried many formats, but none of them work.

any suggestions ?

thank you

Hi Najman

I think firstly change the OS to Linux for the VPlex rather than Windows.

As regards to the invalid mapping file, don't copy and paste from the VPlex cmd line into notepad, I suggest if you can see the LUN VPD id copy it by clicking on the VPD link in the storage volume window and paste that directly into your notepad.

The format for the mapping file is:

Generic storage-volumes

VPD83T3:600508b40010344axxxxxxxxxxxxxxx TEST_LUN_0

VPD83T3:600508b40010344axxxxxxxxxxxxxxx TEST_LUN_1

The volume will be have the file name added to the start of the Volume name

so if your file name is called map.txt:

your volume will look like:

map_TEST_LUN_0

map_TEST_LUN_1

Hello Vincent

Thank you very much, but, I am still doing something wrong.

I set the host to Linux.

From the vplex:

If I understood correctly, I set the name file to:

VPD83T3:6001438006490359000070003ca70000 kukuBest Regards,

Hello Najman

The file name you can call what ever you like, so in my example I called it map.txt

Inside the file the format should look like

Generic storage-volumes

VPD83T3:600508b40010344axxxxxxxxxxxxxxx TEST_LUN_0

VPD83T3:600508b40010344axxxxxxxxxxxxxxx TEST_LUN_1

So the first part is the storage volume name and the second part (TEST_LUN_0) is the alias I am giving the storage volume name when presented to VPlex.

Remember also to include the header Generic storage-volumes above the volume names,

If your still experiencing issues copy a few lines of your mapping file so we can see if there is an issue.

Hi Najman

Generic storage-volumes

VPD83T3:6001438006490359000070003ca70000  kuku

Include the line "Generic storage-volumes" above your storage volume line.

As I said before ensure you don't copy and paste the storage volume name from the putty output, either type it in manually or use the GUI screen to locate name to c&p.
