Unable to add RAID Groups while creating virtual block pool

I am working to integrate Hitachi USPV (RAID Groups/No Pool) to VIPR. I could successfully add the storage system and create virtual array but unable to fine the RAID groups while creating block pool. Can you please let me know if I am missing something.

Hi,

It is a trial version of VIPR with just one controller.

VIPR: vipr-2.1.0.1.437

Hitachi Comman Suite: 7.5.0-02

Hitachi USPV: Microcode 60-08-45-00/00

The ViPR Support matrix shows HiCommand 7.4.1, 7.6.1, and 8.0 are supported. 7.5 might work but it’s also possible that it doesn’t work correctly for ViPR. Is it possible to try 7.6.1?

And yes, I selected thick. I dont have Pool License on USPV, so I wanted to use RAID groups to create block pool on VIPR.

Can you identify the full version of the ViPR Controller software? Also, the full version of HiCommand and the full model# of the USPV?

In the vPool configuration, did you specify "Thick"?

Srinath,

Are you able to see thick pools in ViPR? To view them, to view the pools, you can select the storagesystem and click on pools.

Let us know if you see any thick pools (RAID Groups) or thin pools.

If you don't see them then we need the following information to troubleshoot.

1. Do you have any ArrayGroups (RAID Groups) created on this USPV?

2. If you have ArrayGroups created, please share us the complete log files to investigate further on this.

Ganga

Hi Srinath,

I think the pools are filtered as they might not be matching with the characteristics specified in the VPool creation page.

Could you please share us the apisvc.log file located in /opt/storageos/logs folder?

We will take a look at the log files and can rootcause the issue.

Regards,

Ganga

Hi,

Please find the attached log.

Do we need to add fabric before we create block pool? I haven't added FC fabric yet.

Regards,

Srinath.

Yes, you need to have a fabric with the storage array front end ports assigned before you will be able to build a vPool.
