Sachin,

ViPR collects different metering information from the different assets under ViPR and is able to export them to other products such as SRM (ViPR Solution Pack), vCOPS, etc...  I suggest installing the solution pack and checking out the metrics and physical to virtual relationships.   This allows you to understand whats going on in the ViPR world from one pane of glass.

Hi Sachin,

I assume metering refers to the products available to monitor the ViPR instance

For example the Solution Pack for EMC ViPR which can be installed within Watch4Net.

The Solution pack exposes availability and usage of VIPR Managed storage. When using in combination with the SRM Suite, this Solution Pack connects the dots from physical to ViPR managed volumes Or the ViPR Analytics Pack for VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite which allows the user to monitor the EMC ViPR deployment via vCenter Operations Management Suite.

Review https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-28093 for more details

Hi Conor.

I see. By the way, what does this line "The used and maximum total capacity values for a virtual pool are included in ViPR metering records." at https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-28097 is refering to. Is it referring to some UI inside ViPR or is it referring to these different tools for monitoring.

The W4N GUI shows these pool capacities.  For a demo, see these two excellent videos

i) Install ViPRInstall SolutionPack under How-To

and

ii) "Demo: EMC ViPR Storage Monitoring and Reporting" under Training.
