How to stop alerts from a particular vCenter

Hi

i know I have been asking some quite simple and silly questions these days, but believe me I have been given this foglight tool to setup in our environment which I have no idea of, but no other go.. have to do it. so trying my ways.

Scenario 1:

I have 3 vCenters currently being monitored in my FVE 8, we are going to do maintenace on one vCenter, how do I stop all the alerts for that specific vCenter. Do I need to amend each and every rule or is there any way to stop the agent which collects the data..something like that.

Scenario 2 : I want to add a new vCenter environment to my existing Foglight tool, how can that be achieved.

Your quick response will be much appreciated.

Thanks

For scenario 1 - you can create a blackout for the alarms http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/5611/doc/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/frameset.htm?context=forge&file=AdministrationConfiguration/SettingUp_Ref.41.php&single=true

For scenario 2 - you need to check if you are sized for the added monitored vcenter first so your overall monitoring is not impacted by the added objects/metrics/alerts. As far as adding a vcenter, you do that from the Virtual Environment Dashboard > Administration tab.
Follow these instructions http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/571/doc/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/frameset.htm?context=cartridgeInf&file=vFogStorage-install/1_GettingStarted.28.php&single=true

Hope this helps

Thanks Golan.

I managed to stop the alerts for one vcenter by deactivating the agent manager for that vcenter as creating blackout for all the rules would gonna be a tiresome job.

I am able to add a vcenter now, thanks again :).
