Avast finally discontinuing definition updates for version 4.8

Ah yes!   I remember it well!!   Avast 4.8, with its infamous "media player" look... dating back to 2008.

Believe it or not, there are people surfing online who still insist on using this ancient version, despite avast having offered many newer and more powerful versions (avast 5, 6, 7, 8, 2014, 2015, 2016, 12).

Beginning in January 2017, virus definition updates will be discontinued for Avast version 4.8.  The product will still function; however, please be aware that your protection will be compromised.

Personally, I think this "severing" should have been made LONG ago...
