CacheTask ?

Anybody know what Microsoft's CacheTask actually does? I see lots of posts on the net that it's part of all versions of Windows but no clear indication of what it's actually doing.

In recent days CacheTask has suddenly started to consume lots of CPU time on my Win 7Pro+SP1, 32-bit system, and things slow almost to a crawl.

CacheTask is listed in Task Scheduler in the Wininet folder and set to run at every log-in. It defies my attempts to disable it. Had to dig, but I finally found a box that says "Enable" and unchecked it, but it still runs...

And FYI, if you installed the Intel Driver Update utility their download site uses to look for driver updates (eg, chipsets, Intel graphics drivers, etc) or agreed to participate in the Intel Product Improvement Experience, the process Sursvc.exe runs all the time in the background and consumes lots of CPU time on my system.  I uninstalled the driver update utility to get rid of that process.

Now if I can only figure out CacheTask...
