Krystyn,

Here's some of what I found, that needs fixing...

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following:

WildTangent

Before we begin, let's move HiJackThis to it's own folder; like c:\HJT. When we're done ' cleaning' off your system, we're going to ' flush' the temporary folders which, with HiJackThis in it's current location, we'll lose both the program and the backups it creates. These backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later.

Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/sb/ymsgr/*http://www.yahoo.com/ext/search/search.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/su/ymsgr6/*http://www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/sb/ymsgr6/*http://www.yahoo.com/ext/search/search.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/sp/ymsgr6/*http://www.yahoo.com

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/stp/ymsgr*http://my.yahoo.com

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/su/ymsgr/*http://www.yahoo.com

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
(Unless you've set these with a anti-spyware program like SpyBot's Immunize feature, have HiJackThis fix this.)

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Does that fix the problems your experiencing with this system; is there something else that your having problems with?

Mike.

Done...this is the fresh log...the only reason I ran my antivirus was because my firefox was acting up, and now it seems fine...but how can I be sure that I'm rid of the trojan? Should I run my antivirus again? The AV picked up a "JavaByte Exploit Trojan" that it couldn't repair.

Kristyn,

You can try running your anti-virus program from "Safe Mode" and see if that can remove it.

-

Let's give your anti-virus program a second set of eyes; just to see if anything comes up...

Go to www.trendmicro.com and click "Free Online Scan". When it's down, select all available drives, then click "Scan".

Download, install and run AdAware SE Personal. Be sure to check for and download any new updates before "performing a full system scan".

Download, install and run Spybot S&D. Be sure to check for and download any new updates, before clicking "Check for Problems".

-

Run these at least once a week. If you have a recurring problem that these can clear up, post back a HiJackThis log for review.

Post back the results.

Mike.

I ran my AV program in safe mode, and it picked up the same trojan, still can't remove it. I have adaware and spybot, and I do run them regularly. Is this something I can remove manually?

Kristyn,

Yes. Just get the name of the file from your anti-virus program, then reboot into "Safe Mode", path to it and remove it manually. Does your anti-virus give a reason for not being able to remove it?

Ok, I found some info on another site for removing this particular trojan...apparently, it attached itself to a particular cache in my java plug in files, and deleting the cache did the trick. I disabled my system restore, rebooted, and my AV program is coming up clean.

Thanks for your help. :)
