Infected with something? (people on page? or mypcsearch?)

I have some sort of infection. I am not sure what. I have run my Norton Antivirus, AdAware and Spybot S&D to no avail. I ran all three and then rebooted. Then I scanned and saved a hijack this log. THis is what I got. Can anyone help me please?

Re: Infected with something? (people on page? or mypcsearch?)

ryley,

That's an understatement!

Let's start by doing this...

-----

Go to www.trendmicro.com and click on "Free Online Scan",when it's down, select all available drives, then click "Scan".

-----

Post back a new log.

Mike.

Re: 2nd HJT log

Ryan,

Ok, let's see what we can do. We're going to remove the files last, just in case we encounter any problems. There's alot of files on there that shouldn't be...

Reboot into "Safe Mode"

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following:

Virtual Bouncer

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

next log

Mike,

When I rebooted in safe mode and went to add/remove programs, virtual bouncer was not listed. Perhaps it is under another name. However, I still followed the rest of the instructions and here is the latest log.

Re: Infected with something? (people on page? or mypcsearch?)

Mike,

Sorry it took so long to reply. I am unable to reply from my home pc so I had to wait until I got to the office this afternoon. After the last set of instructions where I checked the items and fixed them in hijackthis, I cannot access ceratin web pages. When I try to access them, I get a Windows error message that says Windows has encountered an error and must shut down. This happens when I try to access e-mail through yahoo, as well as when I try to reply to my post on the Dell communtity forum. It also happens when I try to send you a private message through the Dell forum. (Hence, the reason I am sending this reply from my office) Also, I do not understand what you meant in your last message when you wrote the following:

"Also, can you post back info on this file:

Re: Infected with something? (people on page? or mypcsearch?)

Ryan,

Ok, that's why I didn't want to delete the associated files just yet - there was alot running, and anyone of those files couldv'e compromised Internet Explorer.

Let's try to restore all the 02 entry(s) and see if that fixes it, if not, let's try restoring the 03's and see if they are causing the problem.

You can access those from "Config ... | Backups". Just check(tick) the ones you want to restore, then click "Restore". Try rebooting after each is restored and see if the problem clears up.

Post back the results,

Mike.

Re: Infected with something? (people on page? or mypcsearch?)

Mike,

When I got home tonight I rebooted my computer and now everything seems to be fine, so I have not gone back to re-enable the files you mentioned. Thank you very much for your help. You and anyone else who goes out of their way to help people like me deserve a standing ovation in my book.

Ryan
