===========

WARNING:   There are confirmed reports that version x.6104 of CCleaner is resetting Firefox and Thunderbird profiles/preferences.   Pirform is working on this issue.  Until fixed, their recommendation is to uncheck "Last Download Location" from under "Firefox" and/or "Thunderbird" in the Applications tabhttps://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=48428#entry284145

=================================================

CCleaner v5.31.6104 (13 Jun 2017)

- Improved Windows 10 Creators support
- Improved Firefox History cleaning
- Improved Chrome Cache and History cleaning
- Optimized Scheduling functionality (Professional only)
- Improved high-DPI support

Either be careful to UNcheck any pre-checked offers for bundled programs/toolbars (unless you really want them)... or else, wait a few days until the SLIM build is released.

For those who have/use them:

Adobe AIR has been updated to 26.0.0.118 https://get.adobe.com/air/

Adobe Shockwave has been updated to 12.2.9.199 https://get.adobe.com/shockwave/ https://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/shockwave/apsb17-18.html

===================

REMARK:   Over the past few months, I've often had problems downloading AIR (and shockwave).   In my case, it turns out that the downloads were being blocked by uBlock-Origin.   To get around this in FF/PM, go to Tools/Add-Ons/Extensions, scroll down to uBlock Origin, select Options/Show Dashboard/Whitelist, and add https://get.adobe.com/air/ ,and Apply Changes.

WARNING:  The link for this separate download of the MSRT is now pre-checking a box to also download "MSN default homepage & Bing default search engine".    Be sure to uncheck this, unless you really want it!

Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT, MRT) for June, version 5. 49

Reminder:   Users who are paranoid about the remote possibility of a FP can opt to run this tool from a Command Prompt, appending a   /N   parameter [for "detect only" mode].

This month's MSRT adds detection/removal of BrowserModifier:Win32/Xiazai - a program [that] installs unwanted software on your PC at the same time as the software you are trying to install, without adequate consent.

Was offered 14 updates today for Win 7 Pro+SP1, 32-bit system, including a Win 7 roll-up, some for Microsoft Office, one .Net, and an MSE definitions update.

Ran the updates and got this result:

Can somebody explain how updates were successfully installed but 14 updates were Not needed...??? The only one installed today is the MSE definitions update, but none of the others. And since I was offered 14 and 1 got installed, why doesn't it say "13 not needed?"

And here's the kicker... I reran WU again and it says "13 important updates available" and "1 optional update".

What the...???  :emotion-12:

I have documented these separately, here:  http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/virus-spyware/f/3522/t/20014447

For what it's worth, Firefox claims its newest version is much faster (and less crash-prone) than before:

Update:

WU continues to nag me to install this week's updates so I relented and tried again today. 14 updates got installed this time. So they went from "Not needed" to "installed".

I don't understand... :emotion-7:
