Reminder:
The Adobe Reader/Acrobat updates insist on reactivating several associated StartUp programs (registry entries) and Service that you might have previously disabled.
I've found the most effective way to stop them is to use CCleaner, select Tools / Startup , and then click-on and DISABLE each of the Adobe entries (if present):
Acrotray (Adobe Assistant)
ARM
SpeedLauncher
[ Not sure why, but CCleaner is doing a better job on these Adobe "pests" than WinPatrol.... ]
The Adobe Acrobat Update Service can be disabled via WinPatrol.

Firefox 55
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/55.0/releasenotes/
Today's release brings innovative functionality, improvements to core browser performance, and more proof that we’re committed to making Firefox better than ever. New features include support for WebVR, making Firefox the first Windows desktop browser to support VR experiences. Performance changes include significantly faster startup times when restoring lots of tabs and settings that let users take greater control of our new multi-process architecture. We’ve also upgraded the address bar to make finding what you want easier, with search suggestions and the integration of our one-click search feature, and safer, by prioritizing the secure - https - version of sites when possible. Read what Nick Nguyen (VP, Firefox Product) has to say about Firefox 55, get historical perspective on the development of WebVR from Sean White (SVP, Emerging Technologies) in this Medium post, and read about all the new features for developers in Firefox 55 on Mozilla Hacks.
New
Launched Windows support for WebVR, bringing immersive experiences to the web. See examples and try working demos at Mozilla VR.
Added options that let users optimize recent performance improvements
Simplified installation process with a streamlined Windows stub installer
Improved address bar functionality
Updated Sidebar for bookmarks, history, and synced tabs so it can appear at the right edge of the window as well as the left
Added support for stereo microphones with WebRTC
Simplified printing from Reader Mode
Updated Firefox for OSX and macOS to allow users to assign custom keyboard shortcuts to Firefox menu items via System Preferences
Browsing sessions with a high number of tabs are now restored in an instant
Make screenshots of webpages, and save them locally or upload them to the cloud. This feature will undergo A/B testing and will not be visible for some users.
Added Belarusian (be) locale
Changed
Modernized application update UI to be less intrusive and more aligned with the rest of the browser. Only users who have not restarted their browser 8 days after downloading an update or users who opted out of automatic updates will see this change.
Firefox does not support downgrades, even though this may have worked in past versions. Users who install Firefox 55+ and later downgrade to an earlier version may experience issues with Firefox.
Made the Adobe Flash plugin click-to-activate by default and allowed only on http:// and https:// URL schemes. (This change will not be visible to all users immediately. For more information see the Firefox plugin roadmap)
======================================
Available via internal updater, Help / About Firefox
======================================
REMARK: The online STUB installer is updating to the 64-bit version of FF, for users who have 64-bit systems, with at least 2 GB RAM.
FULL installers are available, with advanced options.
The internal updater is retaining 32-bit this time (FF55), but should switch to 64 bit next time (FF56), for users who have 64-bit systems, with at least 2 GB RAM.

The following was copied/paste from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-add-technology-modernizing :
Starting in Firefox 57, which will be released in November 2017, only add-ons built with this new technology will work in Firefox. These are indicated by the “Compatible with Firefox 57+” label on addons.mozilla.org (AMO). Add-ons built with the old technology are labeled “Legacy” on the about:addons tab.
If an add-on does not have the "Compatible with 57+" label or has the "Legacy" label, the developer may be in the process of transitioning to the new technology.
We are aware that certain add-ons will not be transitioning to the new standard; we will continue to assist developers to the fullest possible extent. As we get closer to November, we will suggest suitable replacements of add-ons not making the transition.
If you are a user of Firefox Nightly, please note that Firefox 57 reaches the Nightly channel on August 2, 2017. Legacy add-ons will be disabled, but will be enabled again if the developer releases a compatible update.
In the meantime, you can check if an add-on is planned for migration (popular add-ons only), look for alternatives, or reach out to the developer to inquire if they will migrate their add-on. You may find developer contact information on the right side of the add-on listing on AMO.

On November 14 Mozilla will take the biggest gamble in its long history when the organization will ship Firefox 57, the first version of its browser that will stop supporting legacy Firefox add-ons.
This means that starting with Firefox 57 the browser will support only new add-ons written on top of the newer WebExtensions SDK.
All legacy Firefox add-ons written on the old XUL-based Add-Ons SDK will stop working.
