Websteroids

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to uninstall the nasty malware called "websteroids"? I can't un-install, can't find it on my hdd, and it just keeps coming back. I'm running windows 8.1 on my Dell Inspiron 3520.

Thank you!

Hello cindylou86, and welcome:

A rather extensive set of instructions to completely remove this pest from your system and browsers is here:
http://malwaretips.com/blogs/websteroids-removal/

You might not need all the programs it suggests you download to do the job, but I can vouch for them all as safe.

If these solutions do not work for you, do not hesitate to let us know. There are dedicated malware removal forums (free) we can refer you to.

Hi. CINDYLOU86,

Websteroids ia more of a PUP (Possibly Unwanted Program) than anything else, a nuisance in other words.   Be very careful downloading and installing things thyat there isn't unwanted 3rd party software added optionally.

Try running Malwarebytes Free and maybe AdwCleaner both linked in the below.

Heres the Download links:

Malwarebytes:

AdwCleaner

Techashar,

Based on the symptoms reported by the original  poster, what is your strategy for suggesting this particular Malwarebytes product?

Be very careful downloading and installing things thyat there isn't unwanted 3rd party software added optionally.
In that case using your suggested link at CNET's download.com would not be advisable. In order to avoid issues download.com has had with its installer, it is best to use the developer's official download site.
