150vdc input to desktop

Need to know if dc voltage instead of ac can be provided at input to dell vostro 3681 desktop power cable so as to operate the computer on DC power available locally from solar panels. Panel voltage used will be in range of 140 to 160vdc. Permissible ac input is labelled as 100 to 240v

Please guide on this requirement.

Thank you.

DC voltage will not work. The power supply will only work with AC voltage.

There are DC to AC voltage converters available for solar arrays.  If you want to use solar you will need a voltage converter.

Thanks for response.

I assume all SMPS power supplies take in AC and very first a bridge rectifier converts to DC, so I felt like asking if dc input within acceptable range should be fine.

Anyways.

Next alternative is a spwm AC supply feasible from some dc to ac converter.

If not that too, can you please point me to any online reference to the suggested Dc to ac converter for solar panels as mentioned in your reply?

Technically a converter is actually called an "inverter"

Here is a sampling on Amazon
