Dell Vostro 430 Mini Tower Upgrades

Hi, I just bought a Dell Vostro from someone who had used it for a little bit. Its in great condition but the ram, GPU, and CPU along with the battery are kinda old. Im looking for something that will help me play more intense games smoothly. I'd like them to be budget friendly but if not I dont mind spending money on this pc, hopefully it isnt a bust. Thanks! Heres the specs btw

intel i3 530 2.93 GHZ

nVidia GeForce 310

4 GBs of DDR3

350 PSU

Thanks

Re: Dell Vostro 430 Mini Tower Upgrades

The Vaostro,

You can add more memory to the system. Below is the memory configuration for your computer. You can also add another video card. Below are some other video cards that were an option that you can look into getting.

Memory

Type DDR3 SDRAM (non–ECC memory only)
Speed 1066MHz, 1333MHz
Memory connectors Four
Memory capacities 1 GB, 2 GB and 4GB
Minimum memory 1GB
Maximum memory 16 GB

Video

Type PCI-E x16 graphics card
Cards Discrete :
ATI HD4350 - 512MB DDR2 (For system shipped with P55 Chipset only)
NVIDIA GT220 - 1024MB DDR3
NVIDIA GTS240 - 1024MB DDR3
NVIDIA G310 - 512MB DDR3

Memory

The Vostro 430 uses DDR3 SDRAM Technology. DDR3 SDRAM is a random access memory interface technology used for high bandwidth storage of the working data of a computer or other digital electronic devices.

  • DDR3 SDRAM is an improvement over its predecessor DDR2 SDRAM
  • Capable to transfer twice the data rate of DDR2 (I/O at 8x the data rate of the memory cells it contains)
  • Enabling higher bus rates and higher peak rates than earlier memory technologies
  • No corresponding reduction in latency, due to feature of the DRAM array
  • DDR3 standard allows for chip capacities of 512 Megabits to 8 Gigabits, enabling a maximum memory module size of 16 gigabytes

Supported Memory Configurations

Capacity Configuration
1GB 1x1GB
2GB 2x1GB 1x2GB
3GB (1x1GB)+ (1x2GB)
4GB 4x1GB 2x2GB 1x4GB
6GB 3x2GB (1x4GB)+ (2x1GB) (1x4GB)+(1x2GB)
8GB 4x2GB 2x4GB
16GB 4x4GB
A NOTE indicates important information that helps you make better use of your computer. NOTE:

SDRAM - Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory
DDR3 - Double-Data-Rate Three

Re: Dell Vostro 430 Mini Tower Upgrades

Is there any other graphic cards with more power i could add? Or another PSU? Thanks for the ram ideas though, and could the i5 or i7 work for my pc?

Best CPU is a Core i7 880.

Better GPU could be a GTX 1050ti.

Max RAM is 16gb of DDR3.

You could upgrade the PSU with just about any ATX PSU but is not needed unless you go for a graphics card above 75w.

Re: Dell Vostro 430 Mini Tower Upgrades

1050 TI cards are wicked expensive right now. Cards that should be $140 are $250.

With your current Ram a GTX 1030 would be the best bang for the buck.
